This project examines the causes and consequences of women’s economic inactivity and informal employment in South Caucasus to inform efforts to improve economic opportunities for women. UN Women commissioned the study with the generous support of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the South Caucasus.

Population: Adult population (18 years old and over), excluding the populations living in territories affected by military conflict (South Ossetia and Abkhazia). Besides nationwide, data is representative of Tbilisi, urban and rural areas of Georgia.

Sample Design: Multi-stage cluster sampling with preliminary stratification.

Sample Size: 1,438 respondents.

Response rate: 45%

Survey mode: Computer-assisted personal interview (CAPI).

Interview languages: Georgian, Armenian and Azerbaijani.

Fieldwork Dates: April 5, 2018 to May 10, 2018.

Results are weighted.
